San Diego is considered America's Finest City. As California's 2nd most populous city, it is known for its bustling nightlife, array of international restaurants, beautiful beaches, and perfect weather. San Diego is also Arias' hometown! We took a trip to San Diego during the summer and came back with so many wonderful memories and experiences. If you're thinking about heading to a US destination this summer, San Diego has everything you need for a perfect romantic holiday.
Here are 5 San Diego Date Ideas to try with your significant other this summer!
1. Watch the sunset at Sunset Cliffs
Sunset Cliffs is actually a Natural Park located to the West of Point Loma. It is a series of natural cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean and is a very popular destination for both locals and tourists alike to view the beautiful San Diego sunset. During July, the sun sets at around 8 pm local time. We headed to Sunset Cliffs about an hour before-hand to find parking and a place to sit, though almost every location along Sunset Cliffs offers stunning vistas!
2. Jet Ski in Mission Bay
If you're looking for a bit more of an adventure, try jet skiing with your significant other in Mission Bay. We rented a 2-person jet ski for 2 hours through the Mission Bay Sports Center. It requires only a credit card and ID to reserve the jet ski. Be mindful that there is also a weight limit. If you prefer an activity on the Bay that is a bit slower, other options include a pontoon boat, kayak, or paddle board. We had tons of fun racing around the Bay...and even managed to flip our jet ski once or twice!
3. Sail on a San Diego Harbor Tour
During our summer in San Diego, we embarked on a 2-hour San Diego Harbor Tour. The Harbor Tour was one of the highlights of my first trip to San Diego and provided a wonderful overview of the city's history, particularly its unique military ties. On this guided tour, we had the opportunity to view the city skyline, the Coronado Bay Bridge and several iconic ships, such as the Star of India.
The yacht itself was a beauty, with plenty of room on the top deck to lounge and take in the sites. There was also a lower level available for folks opting for a bit less sunshine. Snack service and a full bar were also available to all guests. The attraction was also quite affordable, costing ~$37.00 per person for the full 2 hours.
4. Lounge at Mission Beach
You can't go to San Diego without visiting one of its most popular beaches, Mission Beach. Mission Beach is a stretch of over 2 miles of coastline with a boardwalk that includes an amusement park, a variety of shops, and an an array of bars and restaurants. You'll find visitors sunbathing, surfing, playing volleyball, cycling, and roller skating. It's such a perfect image of the classic Boardwalk Surfer Town. While there, we enjoyed relaxing in the sun with ice cream under our large umbrella! Make your next beach date at Mission!
5. Eat a Romantic Dinner in Little Italy
San Diego's Little Italy is the largest Little Italy in the United States and has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in San Diego. It is also one of the oldest areas of the city and is comprised of over 70 restaurants, bars, and pubs. It is certainly an area of the city that will keep you busy! This neighborhood really comes alive during the evenings around dinner time and is perfect for an evening stroll with your significant other. Pop into any one of the delicious restaurants for a bite to eat, then stop by Pappalecco for delicious homemade gelato! The perfect date night in Little Italy!

It looks like San Diego is the place to go! Anywhere near the beach to watch an amazing sunset has to be romantic. Thanks for the inspiration. Renee
I love these great ideas for a date night in San Diego. We have visited several times and have run around to see the sights. I would love to plan some down time and just enjoy a sunset. And even with all our visits we have not yet made it out on the water to see the area from a different perspective. You would not have to suggest twice a visit to Little Italy for a great romantic dinner. Linda (LD Holland)
Lovely ideas for dates! I would love to try all of these with my husband. Never been there before but I would love to go!
Great blog post. I've never been to San Diego, but seems like a great summer destination! The jet skis in Mission Bay sounds like so much fun!
