Overview of Arenal Kioro Hotel
We traveled to Arenal Kioro during dry/high season in Costa Rica. Although February is a popular time to travel to La Fortuna, the hotel itself was not crowded. The hotel offered amazing views of the Arenal Volcano (some of the closest views among any La Fortuna hotel) and served as a truly tranquil and serene resort experience. The location was close to several attractions, and the on-site amenities made our stay at Arenal Kioro one of our favorite stays in Costa Rica.

Located in the northern region of Costa Rica, Arenal Kioro Hotel is situated in the heart of the Arenal Volcano National Park. Accommodations at Arenal Kioro Hotel
During our time at Arenal Kioro, we stayed in the Couple's Suite, a luxurious and spacious 63 square meter suite. The Couple's Suite at Arenal Kioro Hotel is the perfect accommodation for couples seeking a romantic getaway in the heart of the Costa Rican rainforest. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with two welcome beverages at the reception area. The check-in was quite simple, and we were given a map of the property to help us navigate. The grounds were very well kept with a variety of flowers lining the walking paths to our individual accommodations. Each suite is housed within a larger building comprised of three other suites.
Located on the second floor of the resort's villas, the Couple's Suite features a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed, luxurious linens, and a private balcony overlooking the Arenal Volcano and the surrounding forest.
The interior of the suite is elegantly decorated with local art and furnishings, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The large bathroom boasts a Jacuzzi tub for two, providing the perfect opportunity for couples to unwind and relax after a long day of outdoor activities. The bathroom also features a separate shower and a double sink vanity. In addition to the bedroom and bathroom, the suite also features a separate living area with a comfortable sofa, a flat-screen TV, and a small dining table for two.
Guests staying in the Couple's Suite also have access to a range of amenities, including air conditioning, a mini-fridge, a safe, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The suite is perfect for couples looking for a private and intimate retreat in a beautiful and peaceful setting.
The hotel's staff was also superbly accommodating. No matter what time of day we called to the reception desk, there was always someone available to help. Rooms were cleaned daily, and the cleaning staff even took the time to create towel origami for our beds. The attention to detail was five-star. The Arenal Kioro Hotel staff is truly dedicated to ensuring that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience during their stay in Costa Rica.
Dining
Every day, we took a short walk along the hotel's serene garden paths to get to the resort's primary restaurant, Heliconias. Our resort stay included daily complimentary breakfast, which was served buffet style at the Heliconias restaurant. Every morning, we were delighted by a selection of traditional Costa Rican breakfast dishes, including rice and beans, as well as more international breakfast dishes, such as omelettes and French toast. There was also an array of fresh fruit served daily, along with delicious orange and mango juices. The restaurant also offered stunning daytime views of the Arenal Volcano and natural lighting pouring from the multitude of windows.
Dinner was also a treat at Heliconias restaurant. We were impressed by the selection of entrees, including the Tomahawk steak-- a treat with amazing taste and flavor. This was served with a side of loaded baked-potato. We also enjoyed the dessert menu, especially the Nutella crepe served with a side of vanilla ice-cream. It was a delightful culinary experience, paired with an equally impressive red and white wine selection. Our experience at Heliconias left nothing to be desired.
For a more casual dining experience, the hotel's poolside bar offers a range of snacks, light meals, and refreshing drinks throughout the day. The bar is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun while enjoying a delicious cocktail or smoothie.
